Galliford Try will be upgrading the A47 between Fox Lane junction and Easton Roundabout as part of their next steps as they upgrade the road to dual carriageway.
To complete their work safely, the A47 will be fully closed in both directions from Easton Roundabout to Dereham interchange between 8pm Friday 20 March and 6am Monday 23 March 2026. Additionally, Church Lane, Easton (also known locally as Dereham Road) from the junction with the A47 to the junction with Dereham Road, will be fully closed.
During the full road closure, they will be switching traffic onto their new local access road between Sandy Lane (Hockering) and Honingham Roundabout, with traffic diverted through their new Wood Lane Junction.
Diversions will be in place.
A47 Diversion Route
Westbound Diversion Route:
Head east on the A47
Join the A11 and head southwest
Leave the A11 at Thetford and join the A134 heading northwest
At Mundford take the A1065 northwards towards Swaffham
Rejoin the A47 at Swaffham and head east.
Eastbound Diversion Route:
Head west on the A47
Leave the A47 at Swaffham and head south on the A1065
At Mundford take the A134 to Thetford heading southeast
At Thetford take the A11 heading northeast Toward Norwich
Rejoin the A47 and head northwest
All side road access will be closed onto the A47. Residents living directly on the A47 will be escorted through the closure by traffic marshals when access is required during the closure. Access routes through the closure will be maintained for the Emergency Services.
They also may need to fully close the road from 8pm Friday 27 March to 6am Sunday 30 March 2026 in case they are unable to complete all works during the previous weekend.
